Remember a Template takes a document, abstracts it and allows it to be actionable. The contents of the template is contained in the version. Then the template can be used to create documents.
The version of the template that is active is used to create to create a document. The document is what is run in your operations.
What is the Version Status for Edited?
When a version is the in the Draft status, it can be edited with our template editor. Once the version is Active or Archived, it can no longer be edited. Learn more about versioning templates.
How to Edit a Template Version?
When viewing the template, you can click on the Versions tab. It will show you each version and its corresponding status. Since this example template only have one version and its status is draft, there is a button to the right of the page title that can be used to launch the Template Editor.
When viewing the template, the Template tab will show the latest version. If the latest version is still in the status of draft, then you will be able to edit the version and there will be a button on the right to launch the Template Editor.
Whatever applicable page you are on, click the Launch Editor button.
The Template Editor will be opened in a new window.
You can now use the authoring tools to edit the template version.
Making the Template Actionable
You can make the template version actionable by adding form elements or other smart elements. This means that when this template version is used to create and run documents, users will be able to interact with the elements.
You can Insert Form Elements or Insert Smart Elements from the top navigation.

Since the Editor provides document authoring functionality, tools are provided to format and customize the text along with add other static elements and rich media. All of these tools are contained in the top navigation bar.
There is additional text formatting functionality contained in the A icon. When hovering over the icon it will says "More Text" options.
Clicking on the More Text button will make another level of tools available. These tools allow you to format the text including changing its size and color.
There is additional paragraph formatting functionality contained in the paragraph icon. When hovering over the icon it will says "More Paragraph" options.
Clicking on the More Paragraph button will make another level of tools available. These tools allow you to add bullet or number lists, change the type of formatting from a paragraph to a header, modify the indention, etc.
The Editor allows you to insert links into your template.
You can also insert images into the template. This functionality will allow you to upload photos or images and then allow you to insert them.
There is additional static elements that can be added which are contained in the Plus icon. When hovering over the icon it will says "More Rich" media options.
Clicking on the More Rich button will make another level of tools available. These tools allow you to insert tables, videos, emojis, files, etc.
Saving Changes to Template Version
The Template Editor auto saves changes every 5 seconds. In the top right corner of the editor, the date time the template version was last saved is displayed.
If you are worried about your changes being saved, you can also click on the File menu. Then click the Save link. When you click the Close link, the template version will be saved first and then closed.
